I initially had difficulty deciding what skill I would like to learn. However, I decided that this semester I am going to be building a bedroom bench for myself. I love doing hands on projects, so I am really looking forward to seeing the outcome (hopefully I will still want to keep it afterwards)! I plan on beginning by researching different styles and plans online to choose what will suit me and my style best. I will then measure my room and bed to find my measurements. I would like to attempt to make the wood appear like barn board, as well as learn how to paint, glaze and finish some pieces of the bench. I will be learning techniques throughout the course of the semester, and I will be practicing them before I actually work on the final project. I am hoping to complete this project in vlog style to try something new! Here’s to hoping it goes well!

Thank-you! Last summer I actually made a headboard for myself from barn board, so I am hoping I will be able to colour match this project on my own!

I am going to be getting the paint and glaze from Mabel and Martha’s here in Regina, and I am unsure about the wood at the moment!

Carley, what a cool idea! This is going to be so much fun to follow along with! One thing I would recommend would be to add a photo of yourself to make it feel just a little bit more personal. I’d recommend putting a photo in your widgets, then your viewers will be able to see it on each page!

I think it is so great you are learning to build something. When I did my learning project i built a dining room table and a bench. This is a great ability to have, build things, and with my experience they usualy turn out better then from the store. Good luck.
